Our East Bay Service Area
Locally rooted in Alameda County
Alameda Custom Railing is a locally owned and operated fabricator based on the island of Alameda, serving homeowners, contractors and property managers across the East Bay. We design, build and install custom railing systems in our own shop — wrought and ornamental iron, stainless cable, tempered glass and powder-coated aluminum — then anchor them to California Building Code on site.
Because every East Bay city inspects a little differently, we treat local knowledge as part of the job. A permit workflow in Alameda's own Permit Center is not the same as going through Alameda County Public Works for unincorporated Castro Valley, and a hillside deck in the Berkeley Hills raises different questions than a marina-side balcony in San Leandro. The pages below spell out how we handle each community.

Each city page covers local permit contacts, the housing stock and climate we build for, the ZIP codes and neighborhoods we cover, and answers to the questions homeowners ask most.
County and coverage note
Our core coverage sits inside Alameda County: Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, San Leandro, Hayward and unincorporated Castro Valley, plus nearby East Bay communities on request. Guard height (typically 42 inches), the 4-inch sphere rule, and graspable handrail dimensions are enforced across every one of these jurisdictions, but the permitting counter changes from city to city — and Castro Valley routes through the County rather than a city hall entirely. We confirm the current local amendment before we cut steel.
